Job Title: Certification Investigator
Duration: 4+months(Possibility of extension)
Location: Boston, MA, 02108
* Monday to Friday- Currently working from home job. May return to the office in Downtown Boston.
The Client is seeking a dynamic and analytical individual for the position of Certification Investigator with a high level of professionalism, integrity, investigatory and organizational skills, and desire to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
- The Certification Investigator will be responsible for conducting investigations of organizations that have applied for certification as a diverse business (Minority, Women and Veteran for-profit and non-profit business enterprises, etc.) and for the certification of Massachusetts Small Businesses. The successful candidate will also perform related functions including, conducting, and preparing written investigatory determinations, memoranda, and providing correspondence and to provide consultation on certification and related issues. The Certification Investigator may also serve as a member of the Certification Committee or Client Appeals Board if designated. The Certification Investigator will serve as a member the Client's Certification team and report directly to Client's Certification Director.
- The Certification Investigator will, in coordination with the Certification Director and the Certification team:
- Evaluate online applications to determine eligibility for certification by reviewing and analyzing financial and organizational documents to determine the entity is both owned and controlled by the same eligible principals, the organization is independent and an ongoing entity.
- Coordinate and conduct telephone interviews or virtual site visits to verify control and ownership and to determine if the applicant organization is actively engaged in business activity by the existence of appropriately furnished business space and equipment or tools that are typical for a business in the industry. Interview the applicant's employees, subcontractors, consultants and/or government personnel to verify certification requirements as necessary.
- Prepare a written recommendation for each certification application in accordance with Client regulations and standards providing a detailed justification of the application status denial, approval, action, show-cause, decertification, withdrawal, or the equivalent.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of State Certification and the Client Executive Director.
- The selected temporary candidate will work with some Personally Identifiable Information (PII) submitted by our diverse and small business certification applicants and will be asked to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement to ensure the sensitive and confidential treatment of that information.
Required Skills:
- Professional experience in investigations, compliance and/or diversity, equity and inclusion
- Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
