Job Title : Family Engagement Coordinator

Pay Rate: $14.40 - $16.40

FLSA Status: Part-time, hourly

POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Family Engagement Coordinator will work closely with the Family Engagement Leadership to ensure high quality member service and engagement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform excellent service to all members, staff, volunteers and guests.
2. Build relationships by using names and initiating conversations with all members, staff, volunteers and guests.
3. Communicate with supervisor, staff, members, guests, and volunteers in a clear, concise and positive manner while using Listen First skills.
4. Understands, supports and is committed to the YMCA cause and our role in the community as a leader in Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.
5. Actively participates in management team meetings and committees as assigned.
6. Understands, follows and demonstrates the Y Competencies listed below.
7. Work to ensure a diverse and inclusive culture at the Y.
8. Know and follow the established Human Resources and Finance procedures of the association as needed.
9. Responsible for assuring high standards of program quality and safety in accordance with YMCA safety and risk management policies.
10. Follow all policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook and the emergency response plan manual.
11. Assist in supervising, developing and scheduling all employees and volunteers within the department.
12. Motivate and engage your employees and volunteers to increase retention and understanding of our Cause through regular staff/in-service meetings.
13. Lead activities/classes/shifts for which employees or volunteers cannot be secured.
14. Collaborate with other directors when needed.
15. Take part in YMCA activities and special events as needed; encourage staff, youth , family and teen participation as well, in order to ensure the events success.
16. Attend YMCA trainings as assigned by supervisor.
17. Act as a positive role model while implementing YMCA character development and following the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Responsibility, and Respect.
18. Work 100% of shifts hands-on in programming weekly.
19. Assist in planning and implementation of Family Events throughout the year.
20. Coordinates and facilitate birthday parties.
21. Perform other related duties as assigned by your supervisor.

EFFECT ON END RESULT

To make sure youth and family programs achieve the goals and objectives of the YMCA, operate efficiently, and serve children and their families in the most effective, beneficial manner.
The development of a competent, committed staff team within the program(s).
High quality, innovative programming (with an emphasis on positive peer interactions, team building, community service, and asset building).

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Excellent oral and written communication skills with all ages
•Interpersonal & coaching skills
•Supervisory Experience a plus
•CPR/First Aid Certification within 6 months
•Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
•18 Years of Age or Older
•College credits toward Human Services, Recreation, Physical Education or related fields and/or 1 year related experience
•Ability to work with children and to supervise others
•Knowledge of teambuilding, non-competitive and competitive games, youth programs
•Ability for a flexible schedule
•If applicable, will certify in: Red Cross CPR/First Aid and medication/Epi-pen training

•Current registration system is a plus
