Please be advised that the selected candidate for the position will initially assume the role of Fire Recruit. Subsequently, upon successful completion of the Fire Recruit Academy, the individual will be promoted to the role of Firefighter Paramedic. The duration of the Fire Recruit Academy is anticipated to be for 2 months.

It is imperative to note that possession of a valid Paramedic license is a mandatory requirement prior to the commencement of the Fire Recruit Academy (Tentative Date: Late April to Late June). Therefore, applicants are expected to hold a current Paramedic license at the time of application or provide proof that a Paramedic License will be obtained before Late May.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responds to emergency and routine alarms as part of a firefighting team, lays hose, sets ladders, ventilates buildings, and performs salvage/overhaul functions
Provides basic and advanced life support services to ill and injured persons in accordance with policies and protocols
Compiles necessary reports
Attends all workshops and continuing education classes required to maintain Paramedic certification
Performs routine maintenance of assigned station, apparatus, and related equipment
Assists in fire safety inspections of buildings for adherence to regulations or in emergency pre-planning activities
Participates in scheduled drills and training activities
Performs other related duties
Upon successful completion of the Fire Recruit Academy, employees shall be appointed to the position of Firefighter Paramedic and will receive compensation in accordance with the provisions of the Chino Valley Professional Firefighters MOU. Please see the additional information below:

Successful completion of an accredited California State Fire Academy or possession of a Firefighter I certificate issued by the California Office of the State Fire Marshal, or verifiable out-of-state equivalent

CPAT or BIDDLE CERTIFICATION:
Proof of successful completion of the Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) or Biddle certification issued between January 31, 2024, and the time of appointment to Fire Recruit must be provided. Chino Valley Fire District is not responsible for delayed or unavailable testing results. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to complete the required examinations as early as possible.
SELECTION PROCESS

Application Appraisal, Written Examination, Practical Examination, Panel Interview, Background Investigation, Reference Check, and Physical Examination including Drug Screen.
