Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $22.11 to $23.40/hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full hourly range for this position is $22.11 to $26.05/hr.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:

The Lab Assistant works in Dr. Regina Lapate's lab alongside a postdoc, lab managers, and graduate student researchers and undergraduate RAs. They will collaboratively work with other members of the lab. Responsibilities will include conducting fMRI studies involving behavioral tasks of cognitive control, emotion and memory. Behavioral tasks involve the use of a joystick and/or button box. Will be collecting Physiological measures of arousal, including trans-radial electrical bioimpedance velocimetry, electrodermal activity, and eyetracking. These procedures require training in fMRI safety, physiological sensor application, and human subjects research. Closely collaborates with the PI (Lapate) and other lab members to prepare timely and thorough progress reports to grant agencies. Also has responsibilities for organizing lab meetings and recruiting and training undergraduate RAs as needed for the projects that the Lab Assistant is involved in.

Required Qualifications:

• Less than 1 year of general lab experience/research with Human Subjects.
• Less than 1 year of general experience with lab organizational management.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Solid ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a lab member.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:

• 60% Data Collection - Under the close supervision of graduate students and postdocs, conducts fMRI studies involving behavioral tasks of cognitive control, emotion and memory. Behavioral tasks will involve the use of a joystick and/or button box. Physiological measures of arousal will be collected, including trans-radial electrical bioimpedance velocimetry, electrodermal activity, and eyetracking. Uses required training in fMRI safety, physiological sensor application, and human subjects research in the performance of these duties.
• 15% Data Reporting - Under the general supervision of graduate students and postdocs and the PI, helps the PI with data summary and documentation for grant agency progress reports.
• 15% Data Analysis - Under the general supervision of graduate students and postdocs, performs preprocessing of neuroimaging and physiological data. Duties also include data entry and spreadsheet management.
• 10% Training - Assists with recruiting undergraduate research assistants, including reviewing responses from potential RAs that have been submitted through the lab's website. Trains the RAs on basic research skills including how to conduct themselves while working with research subjects.
